DotNetNuke 4.9 Released

After dogfooding RC1 for several weeks on dotnetnuke.com, DNN Corp. finally released 4.9.0 this past Wednesday. Besides addressing 3 security issues, DNN 4.9 includes a variety of bug fixes, enhancements, and even a new default skin. Jump over to Joe Brinkman's blog for more details on the latest DNN release. While I appreciate all the efforts going into 4.9, it also means that the long awaited Cambrian (DNN 5) release will most likely be delayed even further. To give credit where credit is due, the DNN team did manage to release beta 7 of DNN 5.0 a the end of August. With conference season fast approaching, the last quarter of 2008 certainly shapes up to be an interesting time for anyone active in the DotNetNuke community. More DNN news, happenings, and gossip next.

I don't know about you, but I have a whole weekend of DNN and module upgrades ahead of me. If you've jumped on DNN 4.9 already, please share your experience in the comments. Thanks.

I know, what am I thinking :-)

Anyway, I always enjoy reading the column about the community sum-up.

I have been waiting on the 4.9 release because there are issues with the previous releases and the ASPDNSF ML/DNN shopping cart.

So I did a quick upgrade and got a 404 when trying the install.aspx?mode=upgrade.

I found another that had the same problem and posted on the DNN forums. Ultimately he seems to think that the URL Master from Bruce Chapman had to be temporarily disabled to get the install to work. Since I am using this as well, I have an email for Bruce to review.

The crazy thing is that I left it be overnight and this morning the site was up showing version 4.9. Since then about half the time I click a link I get the Under Construction method and the other half of my clicks work.

I just wanted to throw out this comment in case anyone else is having the issue.

Tom it looks like you will be a world traveller for sure over these next months. I can only hope to get to go to OpenForce. Time will tell.

Tom Kraak Tom Kraak says:

Cliff - have you been able to work this out?

Cliff Cliff says:

Yes, I had to go into Host / Friendly URL Settings and Revert back to the standard DNN friendly urls.

Once the upgrade was done, go back and apply changes to revert back to the URL Master friendly urls.
