DNN 5 RC1 Released in Time for OF Europe

Yesterday, Joe Brinkman announced the release of Cambrian RC1. And besides making it available to the usual “early adaptors” such as sponsors, SLA subscribers, and Marketplace vendors, all attendees of OpenForce Europe, which kicks off Monday, are invited via RSVP code. Speaking of OF Europe, I’m about to board my flight to Amsterdam, so this DNN news roundup will be short.

  • Within days of Microsoft’s announcement that it would adopt jQuery, a popular open source JavaScript library, DNN Corp jumped on it and starting with DNN 5 RC1 will provide full support for jQuery. Thanks guys!
  • I have not looked at the Events module for a while, but alternatively, Vitaly Kozadayev gives you a few quick tips on how to pull Google Calendars into DNN with the help of the iFrame module.
  • And speaking of events and calendars, Engage Software released Engage: Events, “a clean, simple, and easy-to-use event listing module.” Demo it here and let us know what you think in the comments.
  • The DotNetNuke User Manual authored by Lorraine Young has been updated for the 4.9 release and contains a plethora of new material and screenshots. Well done Lorraine, even though in my mind the PDF version should be made freely available as well.

Unfortunately, I had to skip a few items this week, but I’ll make sure to pick them up next time. Now off to OpenForce Europe … hope to see you there!
