DNN Community Edition 4.9.4 Released

In a somewhat surprising move (at least for me), DNN Corp published yet another “minor stabilization release for the 4.x codebase.” According to Joe Brinkman, CE 4.9.4 fixes a module caching flaw and improves performance of the FormatRemoveSQL method. 2 low priority security issues were corrected as well. Besides maintaining 4.x, DNN Corp also released a public beta of DNN 5.1. Please contribute to the upcoming release by downloading, testing, and discussing the beta as well as logging bugs in the public issue tracker.

As you can see, there is lots going on in and around DotNetNuke. I’ve got a week of upgrades ahead of me while continuing to “push every button” of the 5.1 beta. What are you doing with DotNetNuke? Please share in the comments.

Mitchel Sellers Mitchel Sellers says:

Great recap Tom. For me the biggest concern right now is the upgrade to 4.9.4, the caching issue WAS HUGE for my sites, as well as a few high profile clients that have a large number of pages.

Tom Kraak Tom Kraak says:

So you've actually encountered the caching issue first hand on your sites and / or client sites?

Mary Mary says:

What does this mean for 5.1? It's a beta release...I've set up my latest site on 5.1 - are the bugs that were fixed in this 4.9.4 release fixed in 5.1?

thanks!

Kevin Baum Kevin Baum says:

We are having a number of issues with 4.9.4 with several modules not working correctly.
we have not moved to 5.0.1 and are awaiting the s.1 release before we make the jump but with the 4.9.4 issues we may be forced to ....

Tom Kraak Tom Kraak says:

@ Kevin - what specific module issues are you having with 4.9.4?

Jason Jason says:

For one, the news feed module does not show news feeds. Kinda ironic I think.

Johan Johan says:

I had a new installed site last week (DNN 4.9.4) being blank in Google again ... so the problem isn't completely sovled?

Tom Kraak Tom Kraak says:

@ Johan - can I take a look at your site in the Google SERP?

Johan Johan says:

Hi Tom
Here it is: http://www.google.se/search?hl=sv&q=site%3Aitsupportstockholm.se&meta=&rlz=1W1GGLL_en if you check the cache version of the nr one item (www.itsupportstockholm.se/) in this list you see there is no content except headlines .... the following day I adjusted the cache value on the text/html module to 0 and there after the content is showing again ... see the default.aspx page on the dnn site (www.itsupportstockholm.se/Default.aspx) which should be exactly the same but now have content .... /Johan
