New DNN Search Options Spell Trouble 

With two DotNetNuke releases and a new DNN newsletter it was an exciting week indeed. But besides that, new modules, module updates and tutorials have seen daylight as well. Here is the gist of it:

• Recent changes to the DNN search skin object have caused a good share of confusion and community outcry. So before you upgrade to DNN 4.5.3 I suggest you you read up on the new site and web search features and how to configure them for your environement. See this post by Sebastian Leupold and this one by John Mitchell.
  
  
• Developers listen up! Chris Smith posted the DNN v4.5.2 and v4.5.3 ERD diagrams (Visio, VisioXML and PDF) as well as a SQL spec sheet for download.
  
  
• And more geeky stuff. Scott Schecter releases EntitySpaces 2007, "persistence layer and business objects for Microsoft .NET." Way over my head, so you are on your own :}
  
  
• DataSprings, Inc releases Opt In Email 3.0, Stock Quotes and Presentation Archive. While I have not tested Opt In Email yet, I still believe that email marketing is better managed outside of DNN.
  
  
• Looking for an alternative to UDT? Primoz Licen of component.init.si releases IndooGrid 1.3, a module, "which allows displaying and editing [of] data from very large database tables and views."
  
  
• DNN 4.5.2 introduced a Google AdSense module. Mitchel Sellers shows you how to get it up and running and Tom Harris released a customized version of the module including the ability to add a Google channel ID and override ad colors.
  
  
• DNN Creative Magazine releases issue 20 of their popular video tutorial series, shedding light on installing DNN 4..5.x and XHTML compliance.
  
  
• With the introduction of the DNN Powered! Program, Shaun Walker provides insight into the recently updated DotNetNuke trademark policy.
  
  
• Have a DNN feature request or enhancement suggestion? Now you can publicly vote and comment on them to help the core team shape the future of DotNetNuke.
