DNN OpenForce 2007 Wrap-up

Let's wrap up DNN OpenForce 2007 with some final thoughts and observations. I don't think anybody would argue otherwise; the conference has been highly anticipated ever since it was first announced back in May.

So the stakes were high, but as far as I'm concerned the event was a great success for DNN itself and also for the community at large. The significance of teaming up with DevConnections can't be stressed enough as the impact was felt well beyond the marketing and PR opportunities that came along with this partnership. While I don't have any solid numbers to back this up, I bet there were a considerable number of people from other conference tracks who at least stuck their  head into a DotNetNuke session to see what the "DNN fuzz" was all about. And that in my mind means mission accomplished!

According to one core team member that I talked to, overall OpenForce attendance was "good enough" to at least break even, which was comforting to hear.

As expected, nearly every seat was taken whenever Shaun Walker took the stage. This was my first time meeting Shaun and he struck me as a down to earth kind of guy who had no problem admitting being nervous in anticipation of his keynote address. Besides Shaun, I found the rest of the core team to be visible and approachable throughout the conference.

By far the best part though was being around like-minded DNN folks who were eager to share their DNN story over lunch or between sessions. From near or far, the community did come out in force and all major stakeholders were represented. I "counted" everything from Fortune 500s to DNN service providers and consultants as well as passionate end users of the framework.
