DotNetNuke 4.9 Released

After dogfooding RC1 for several weeks on dotnetnuke.com, DNN Corp. finally released 4.9.0 this past Wednesday. Besides addressing 3 security issues, DNN 4.9 includes a variety of bug fixes, enhancements, and even a new default skin. Jump over to Joe Brinkman's blog for more details on the latest DNN release. While I appreciate all the efforts going into 4.9, it also means that the long awaited Cambrian (DNN 5) release will most likely be delayed even further. To give credit where credit is due, the DNN team did manage to release beta 7 of DNN 5.0 a the end of August. With conference season fast approaching, the last quarter of 2008 certainly shapes up to be an interesting time for anyone active in the DotNetNuke community. • Then, make the most of your trip to Vegas by attending the DNN 5 post-conference workshop held by Engage Software in cooperation with DNN Corp.
• I'm glad to see that DNN made it into the final round of the 2008 Open Source CMS Award run by Packt Publishing. If you have not done so already, vote now!
• DotNetNuke makes ZDNet's list of the ten leading platforms for creating online communities. Interesting read.
• Cuong Dang added a blog to dnnGallery.net focusing on design and skinning. Good luck maintaining 2 blogs Cuong :)-
• By now there are a number of DNN (skinning) books on the market.  Rafe Kemmis shares his thoughts on one of them: DotNetNuke Skinning Tutorial By Darren Neese.
• SEO module developer Bruce Chapman releases iFinity Inline Link Master, "a DNN module which automatically creates links in your site content to maximize your linking strategy." Neat little search engine marketing tool.
• And lastly, Scott McCulloch of Ventrian Systems has been on a News Articles release frenzy, churning out 5 point releases so far in September alone. I'm especially excited about the support of bbCodes in comments such as [url=www.mysite.com]sample link[/url].
