The Challenge of SEO and SEM
Posted by Tom on Thursday, March 01, 2007 to SEO, SEM
Since I started offering search engine optimization and search engine marketing services I’ve had a hard time to go beyond the quote and a basis introduction to SEO and SEM. I’ve been struggling to clearly explain to potential clients what exactly is involved in these services, why it can take a relatively long time to see results, why it is so costly, and ultimately why SEO and SEM are so hard to do.
As many times before, SEOmoz, one of the leading authorities in the SEO and SEM space, comes to the rescue with an excellent blog post by Rand Fishkin. Rand compiles a list of 28 reasons why SEO and SEM amount to such a challenge. From “basics” such as search engine guidelines, crawling and accessibility, duplicate content and keyword research to more recent strategies like link building, social media and viral marketing.
I’ll have Rand’s post under my pillow for the next week or so and urge you to the same.
