Oops, it’s already Monday. So let’s quickly warm up last weeks “news” one more time and move on.

The big news of the week was the announcement of the DNN OpenForce'07 conference. We covered it here.

I just tried that Gaia geolocation module. Istalled successfully. After I've added it to the page the page stoped loading. FF2 shows empty page, IE says that the page can not be displayed. Good thing I created separate page to testdrive this module. Had to delete the whole page to remove the module.

Anybody got any ideas on what might have gone wrong?

No, but I guess I should. Didn't think about it. It's the end of the day where I am, so I kinda dumb right now. :)

Ok, I've experimented a little with the copy of my site on local machine and now I can tell you what this module doesn't do:

- does not work with core compression enabled
- does not work for unauthenticated user
- does not work for authenticated user
- does not work for admin
- does work for host... but only under IE

What I also don't like is that it does not load data required on the server side (which obviously has much faster internet connection).

Iccording to the module I'm somewhere in Sweden. :) I wouldn't mind being there... at least for a couple of days... too bad I'm not.

I jumped to conclusions about user privileges. They don't actually matter. It's just that the module does not "like" your skin. :) I think it has something to do with the background.

Apparently, not so good. I was wrong twice. First was about user privileges. Second, I realize now that since the module is using AJAX the whole point is to do everything on the client side, so it does not have to do anything on server (even if it could)...
